History’s Obaro Warriors Crush CLA, Secure Third Place in Dean’s Cup (4-2)

By: Oseghale Lawrence (Erudite)

The Obaro Warriors of the History department capped off a remarkable run in the Dean’s Cup with a convincing 4-2 victory over CLA in the third-place playoff on Friday afternoon at the SUB field.

This win marked a strong comeback for the Obaro Warriors who entered the match undefeated but were halted in their tracks by the Philosophy department in the semi-finals. However, they bounced back emphatically to secure third place. This win marked CLA’s second consecutive defeat to the Obaro Warriors.

Obaro’s dominance was evident from the start. Marko, their striker, opened the scoring in the 29th minute, leaving CLA’s goalkeeper stranded. Femi, the left wing, doubled the lead just before halftime with a well-placed strike that deceived the CLA defense.

The second half saw no let-up from Obaro. Samson, their defender, extended their lead further before Femi secured his brace and Obaro’s fourth goal in the 52nd minute. Although CLA managed a late fightback with two goals in the dying minutes, it proved insufficient to salvage any points.

The History department can be proud of their journey in the Dean’s Cup. They suffered just one defeat throughout the competition and displayed impressive resilience to claim third place with a dominant performance of 4-2 against CLA.
